Fine looking V8's

Bart's back, With more from Tunisia.

Looks Muddy {short description of image}

Hi Chris,

I promised you some other pictures, so here they are. I hope you like them ( anyway, I did when the pictures were taken ).

For the moment I'm in Belgium, so I missed the last trip to the desert last weekend. Anyway my car wasn't fixed yet. I hope by the time I return to Tunesia (tuesday)

The Mallory, power plugs and polybushes will be arrived. This gives me the opportunity to fix my car properly and enjoy some other great weekends.

I hope you enjoy the pictures, and as you know, you're always welcome to join us for a weekend.

Bart.

Off-Roading In Australia ( Lucky Sod.)

 Range Rover

Lisa, some pics for you and Chris--this is why we go 4X4'ing--to get to fantastic places like this (Double Island Point, Queensland--you have to drive about 40m up the beach (easy at low tide, it's getting on and off the beach can be difficult.)

Best wishes, Robert ( Australia )

Actually the truth is I don't really like going on the beach too much, because of the rust factor. Mud is preferable, although that stuffs the seals etc, + brakes.

Hi Chris,

Do you still remember me? I'm Bart Callens living in Tunesia. My 4.6 Efi still goes as strong as ever. My friends are even considering changing their 4x4 to a D90 (V8) or are looking for one. I'll send you some pictures from our trips.

Don't forget you are still invited to join us in one of our trips.

I also have to change my bushes, and want to replace them with polybushes. Which ones should I take Normal or comfort? I'm doing a lot of road, tracks, dunes and some trial. A complete set, does that change all the bushes? Can they be fitted by a home mecanic? Do I need special tools? Will my handling improve?

Yes Yes, & you bet. !!.

If you look close, its an Alien you will see.

101 or what   Malcolm's
(or Sue's ) "101",

Its sure to draw a crowd.

And I am sure you'll agree, you cant help loving it !!

But, I have to admit, , Its changed a bit since we sold it to him.

Tales of Woe.

If your V8 starts a tickin' like it's ready to explode, and you're using tons of oil when you're burdened by a load, and you've over hundred thousand on a rig that's not been towed, then your tickin' lifters clackin' means your cam lobes are furrowed.

If your swivel balls are leaking in a profuse sort of way, and you hear a click or clacking when you're turning all the way, and you're topping off the swivels almost every other day, then your swivel seals need changing and you'd better not delay.

If your brakes begin a screeching when you're pressing on the pedal, and it sounds like water's ready when it's boiling in the kettle, or you hear an awful noise, like metal rubbing metal, then your brake shoe's need a changin' and for less you mustn't settle.

If your gears begin to howl after a substantial time, and you shift it into overdrive and then that begins to whine, but you're not too low on gearlube cause it's checked from time to time, than your situation's normal and it happens all the time.

If your gearshift lever breaks at the ball where it's attached, and your brakes are out of order, and the parking brake is trashed, and you're going down a hill, and descending much too fast, than your situation's hopeless and you're just about to crash!

Enjoy!

V8 Volvo 142 -1969,

 V8  Volvo 4.6 V8

Hello RPI

Just a couple of pictures showing my Volvo 142 -1969, the engine is a 4.6 with the usual mods e.g. heads, cam, dual chain etc. and 5 speed transmission. The rear axle comes from a Jaguar XJS with LSD and shortened to fit the Volvo, the solid driveshafts was discarded and instead tubular driveshafts are installed. The entire front is made of fiberglass including hood and trunk, and as much weight as possible is removed from the car giving the it a curb weight of 1100 kg.

Who Needs to go Off-Road, for the best views.

I have with great interest surfed your Internet pages regarding Rover V8s. The reason for this interest is that I have 2 projects involving this V8; 1) reconditioning of my wife's '89 Range Rover SEi 3,9 (German spec), 2) converting my `77 MGB Roadster (see above) (US spec) til V8.
